Oak Processionary Moth

Life Cycle - Pupae

Notes

Mid June to early September.

Consolidation of Instar L6 nest, which can be found at ground level with grass incorporated.

Nests contains lots of excrement and shed skins.

Remain hazardous for several years due to the toxic nature of the hairs within them.

In Holland, where OPM is prevalent, an intact nest was discovered in Autumn. This is being carefully monitored to see whether they can survive throughout winter in pupae stage, thereby breaking the annual life cycle .
